Meet The Press With Madison

Within the past two weeks, it seems like a lot of blogs are engaging in political banter bitching.  In my short life, here are some things I’ve learned regarding politics:

1)  People tend to get offended when you discuss them.  Isn’t there that whole saying that you should never discuss religion or politics with friends?

2)  To most people a political conversation involves telling a person why they are wrong and you are right.

3)  Very few people are open enough to have a conversation with someone where they could potentially walk away enlightened and having a different view point.

Personally, I find it enjoyable to drink a nice pumpkin spice latte and perhaps eating a warmed up scone while engaging in a discussion of ideas in a non-hostile manner.  Isn’t amazing how their are so many unique individuals in this world each with a different viewpoint?  Some of the greatest things I’ve learned is from another person telling me why something is important to them.  If someone yells, raises their voice, or is starting to hurl insults I just don’t talk to them about anything political.

As far as this election, I have no clue who I’m going to vote for.

Sorry for the down time everyone.  I decided to switch hosts last week.  What normally is a day or two project, turned into over a week long pain in the butt.  Everything seems to be up and working now.  If there are any knicks, they’ll have to wait until sometime later next week when my schedule is more open.

This past month has been crazy busy for me.  I’ve…

Turned a year older.  My birthday was really low key, which I love.  To treat myself, I got my very first HDTV.  This is giant upgrade from my 2-in-1 TV I’ve had.  No, the 2-in-1 isn’t a TV/DVD combo.  It was a TV/VCR combo.  I’d say an upgrade was well deserved.

Moved to a new town and new apartment.  At first I was really second guessing myself.  I don’t think I’ve ever felt so unsettled.  So I spent a day unpacking everything, doing a little furniture rearranging, and slowly this place is feeling less like some strange hotel room and more like a place to call home.

Found a new job, quit it, and found another one.  Early in August, I received a job offer that was perfect and it was close to my school.  I got everything together, gave my two weeks at my former job, found a place, and moved.  Then on my first day they totally screwed me over.  They had over hired and were only going to give me one part-time shift a week instead of being full-time.  I quit, had a mild panic attack, and then was able to find a new part-time gig that I’m happy with.  I’ll have to find another little part-time gig to get some more hours in but I’m feeling positive.

And of course, I’ve started a new semester.  That’s been an experience as well.  By the end of the first week of classes, I had dropped and switched so many different courses.  My schedule is now completely different than what I thought it was going to be.  In the past two weeks I’ve written and read more than I did all of last semester.  I love all my classes so it’s worth it.

As for this site I hope that I’m back to regularly posting again now that things are starting to settle down.  I purchased a theme from Delicious Design Studios.  Very excited about that.  I’m going to be launching a couple new projects, the first should be starting sometime next week.  I may take a stab at doing some vlogging too.

But for now, I have a couple things to read and some papers to write.  I also need to go and do laundry.  Oh, how I miss living in a place that was a washer and dryer.

How I’ve Been Spending My Days

I start a new job and move to a new apartment next week.  The week after that is the start of school.  Yet none of that matters because THE OLYMPICS ARE ON!

GO USA!  Or really anyone.  Even if the USA isn’t competing in that event, I still find someone to cheer for.

this is too great!

Relationship Vacation

Have you all heard of relationship vacations?  I guess it is the new way for couples to say they are on a break.  I don’t get the whole idea of being on breaks.  If you need a break, you might as well just be broken up.  That’s just one girl’s opinion.

I’m taking my own kind of vacation.  A website vacation, if you will.

This month, I’ll be going through a lot of personal changes.  Starting the fall semester, getting a new job (or two), and moving into an apartment closer to my school.  Who knows what other type of shenanigans I’ll be getting into as well.

This website will be going through a lot of changes too.  I’m going to be moving hosts, putting up a new design, and experimenting with some new content.  I am hoping that I’ll be back to my daily posting routine in September, but until then posts my be far and few between.

Have a happy August.
